- a personal note and kicking off the new-and-improved Norse Report -
What’s up Norse Report faithful and the rest of Norse Nation! It’s Kyle this time - here to kick this month’s newsletter off with a quick explanation of why things were so silent this year. Really it came down to a few different factors, I don’t want to go into too much detail and rehash the past, but I feel like those of you who care - and support the site/page deserve to know what’s going on and why things are better now. The main reason we stepped things back this year - or at least I did - can really be boiled down to a single formula:
Bandwidth +
Ambitions were too high +
Lack of institutional support +
A need for humility
Feeling of existential dread =
GENERAL APATHY TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING.
I won’t bore you with the details on any of these - you can ask if you’d like sometime, but the main thing I want to say is that I finally realize that this doesn’t have to flow through ME. I didn’t even realize that I had that mindset until I stepped back - it was sort of the unknown method to how I was trying to run things. Having the year off, watching Larry and Mike run things on Norse Nation, it was like a glass shattering moment. Norse Report doesn’t have to be some hierarchal organization. It can be a collective group of super fans who want to be a little bit more than super fans and write/record content for other fans to enjoy. And that’s what we’re going to do. There’s not going to be a schedule - we’re all going to work at our own pace and put out the content that we feel moved to create, when we feel moved to create it.
We’re Michael, Larry, Jake, Chris and Kyle - and we are Norse Report.
Up next: A transfer portal recap/newsletter covering all of the moves the Norse are making, might be making, or what we hope they would make. Included in this newsletter will also be a link out to Larry Wical’s TRANSFER PORTAL WISHLIST, and a fan-submitted recruiting report provided by one of our readers - who happens to only be 13 years old!!
