Norse Nation, We've Been Spoiled
After the Norse dropped an unprecedented two games in the same weekend against IUPUI, see why the Norse Report team is still not willing to sell on the season.
I know. Probably not the message you expected, or even wanted to hear right now. You, like many other Norse fans are probably pretty jaded this year. That’s understandable. COVID-19 ruined our 2020 tournament bid, our economy, our livlihood, our mental states, our lungs, etc. In the list of “priorities” this year, I imagine NKU hoops falls somewhere between changing your oil and cleaning the gutters. In other words, it’s probably felt more like a chore than anything else.
Why is that? Well it could be a variety of reasons. We’re 5-8 currently, 3-5 in conference. We just dropped our 3rd and 4th straight games - to IUPUI no less. We’re young, inexperienced, and our fan base doesn’t know these kids. Even 2 of our returning upperclassmen, Bryson Langdon and Adham Eleeda are JUCO transfers who the fanbase was supposed to be getting to know better this year.
Maybe the lack of engagement is due to not being able to attend the games in person? It’s legitimate. Makes sense. No in person attendance. No homecoming. No post-game Barleycorns/Tavern/Macs (depending on what year you were born). In other words, this season sucks.
But it’s still NKU basketball. It’s still my university. It’s still my team. That’s the mentality of each of us at Norse Report, which is why - despite the lack of engagement this season from the fanbase - we’re still here, delivering content weekly. It’s completely okay if you need to take a break. Just know that we’re here for you when you want to come on home.
